Cuisine

Fish whether grilled or in soups is widely consumed in Congo.

The chikwangue: the staple food.

The Saka Saka is made from cassava leaves, palm oil, smoked fish and peanut butter.

Saka Saka can be consumed with bush meat or smoked fish, or with Plantain, fufu and Kwanga. 

The Liboke: Stew of chicken, fish, vegetables and wild leaves. 

The Moambe chicken (Mossaka): Roast chicken cooked in a thick sauce made from palm nut extracts.

The Moukalou: Fish soup that can be tasted with coconut juice and peanut paste. 

Palm wine: Palm wine was rediscovered during the war period. It is found throughout the country. Milky drink in appearance and  fruity in taste, palm wine can be slightly sparkling after fermentation.


 

Music

Congolese jazz, Congo Music , soukous or rumba , dance music that mixes Western forms (rock, etc.)  Famous singers from Congo include Les Bantous de la Capitale, Papa Wemba from Congo Kinsasha and Passi.
