Nature Parks

The Republic of the Congo and five other Central African countries: Cameroon , Central African Republic , Democratic Congo, Gabon , Equatorial Guinea are part of the Congo Basin, a region with 230 million hectares of vast forest. The Congo Basin rainforest is the second in the world in terms of area after the Amazon.

These forests are home to over 400 species of mammals, over 1000 species of birds and probably more than 10,000 plant species of which about 3,000 are endemic. Uniquely this Central African region is home elephants, gorillas , forest buffalo, bongo , and okapi in large numbers over vast areas.

Transport

By Plane

Pointe Noire (PNR) has international connections and a few domestic Congolese airlines ferrying over to Brazzaville.

By Taxi

Taxis are blue. 700 CFA generally gets you around a neighbourhood. This goes up to 1000 CFA at night. 

By Train

There is a new jungle train, the Epic Jungle Train of Africa, which is open since 2013, passes through the new Congo Ocean Railway. This train leaves twice a week from the capital and takes 8-13 hours to reach the coast.
