The meeting in Brief

AFRINIC-19 will be held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire from 23 to 29 November 2013. The theme for this year's conference is 

''Scaling up Internet Infrastructure for a resilient and secured access in Africa''

The AFRINIC-19 meeting lasts a week and consists  of workshops and a conference. 

The workshops consist of hands-on training for participants by invited guests recognised as industry experts, in addition to the tutorials held during the conference week. Past sessions include Network Management, Network Security, and IPv4/IPv6 BGP Routing.

The conference consists of a variety of sessions to help the community build and manage the Internet.

These typically include:

  • Tutorials, such as Internet Routing, Network Management, and ISP/IXP Network design.
  • IPv6 sessions, which discuss issues related to IPv6 deployment, and feature real-world deployment content.
  • The Africa Operators (AfOPs) Day, which is a forum for discussing operational issues relevant to the region.
  • Short  presentations  on topics of interest to the community including Internet related technical and business issues.
  • Birds of a Feather (BoF) meetings, which are informal gatherings where participants can exchange information and discuss new ideas.
