AFRINIC-34 Online | Daily Recap (2021/11/17) | AFRINIC Public Policy Meeting Day-1

Policy Discussion Day-1

CymruThe Public Policy Forum is a space for presenting, debating and approving proposed rules or policies to be applied to the management of Internet resources in the African and Indian Ocean region.

AF34 DR EmtelWith a packed session and several policy proposals to discuss, the PDWG co-Chairs welcomed the attendees and gave an overview of the AFRINIC community policy development process and building consensus, and the day's agenda. This was followed by presentations highlighting the policy updates from other Regional Internet Registries and the Policy Implementation Experience Report.

The community discussed three policy proposals on the Day: the PDP Working Group (WG) Guidelines and Procedures (Draft-3) Policy Proposal, IPv4 Inter-RIR Resource Transfers Policy Proposal and Public Information Policy Proposal.

The PDP Working Group (WG) Guidelines and Procedures (Draft-3) Policy Proposal presented by Noah Maina addresses the problems by defining clear and explicit Working Group guidelines and procedures.

Following dynamic discussions from the community, the policy did not reach a consensus and went back to the mailing list.

The Inter-RIR Resource Transfers (Comprehensive Scope) policy proposal presented by Jordi Palet Martinez allows inter & Intra RIR transfers of IPv4 Resources subject to conditions listed in the proposal.

af34 drecap dotAfWe had lively discussions from the community and the policy did not reach a consensus and went back to the mailing list.

The Public Information Policy Proposal presented by Jordi Palet Martinez looks for the publication of information about resource request justifications after a community agreed period of time unless there is a valid demonstration of the need to extend the confidentiality period.

Following discussions, the proposal did not reach a consensus and was sent back to the mailing list.
