Statement:

I am a trained electrical engineer (Bachelor, Master and Ph.D.) with specialization in telecommunications and experience in management, engineering, research and teaching. My experience includes Director General of the (Multisector) Regulatory Authority of Niger, Chair of the Executive Committee of the West African Telecommunication Regulators Association (2011-2012) and Member of the Executive Board of the African Water Association (2011-2013). I have been involved in stakeholders' consultations and/or design of several ICT projects such as the national Internet Governance Forum.

AFRINIC is at an important stage of its development, aiming to expand Internet usage in Africa, promote Internet development and increase the number of regional members. The role of the Board of Directors is fundamental in achieving this goal, by defining the adequate policies and strategies while taking into account the rapid changing environment of Internet and the challenges faced by the expansion of Internet in Africa (penetration, IT literacy, access, cost, cybersecurity, etc.). While these challenges are various and important, opportunities are tremendous as both the continent (young) population and penetration rate are growing fast, therefore increasing the demand of IP numbers. Consequently, addressing public policy, capacity building and innovation can significantly promote Internet access, contribute to AFRINIC goals and reduce the digital divide between Africa and the other regions.

I believe that my background in ICT technologies and policies, my experience from academic, public and private sectors, my previous managerial experience and my personal qualifications provide me with the skills to fulfill the position and make a positive contribution to AFRINIC.

1) What is you main interest for running for the AFRINIC the Board?

I perceive serving at the Board of Directors of AFRINIC as a great opportunity to contribute to the development of Internet in Africa. The task would be both challenging and rewarding due to the increasing usage of Internet, the fast emergence and evolution of Internet applications/technologies and their usefulness for the society.

2) What is your vision and expected contribution to AFRINIC sustainability and growth as a Board member?

As a member of the Board, my main goal would be to successfully contribute to advanced policies and strategies that will contribute to efficient IP numbers management, strong AFRINIC membership and Internet development in Africa. Should I be elected, I will contribute to the duties of the Board of Directors particularly in identifying regional strategies and guidelines related to Internet policies, resources management and capacity building. I will provide the required commitment and will work collaboratively with other board members, staff and stakeholders.
