Fellowship

The fellowship is reserved in priority for individuals representing small organisations, universities, and media who are actively involved in Internet operations and development or ICT policy in their countries and respective communities. The fellow is expected to positively and actively contribute to IP address management awareness in the AfriNIC service region.
To qualify for the fellowship, you:
- should be a resident of Africa;
- must not necessarily be an AfriNIC member;
- should be from a technical (IT, Computer Science) background;
- have not benefited from previous AfriNIC fellowships;
- are willing to report on how this fellowship has benefited you/your organisation/country.
Selection
Upon selection of the fellows, AfriNIC will notify the selected fellows directly and allow the fellow 7 days to reply with an acceptance of the fellowship. Public announcement of the fellowship winners will be made after the acceptance by the winners.
Important dates
o7 March 2011: Open Call for fellowship applications
22 March 2011: Close of applications
27 March 2011: Notification to pre-selected fellows
04 April 2011: Deadline of acceptance by awarded fellow
09 April 2011: Final announcement and publication of fellowship list
Awards
The fellowship includes:
- assistance with round-trip airfare to the meeting
venue; - hotel accommodates for the AfriNIC Plenary event, from 07 June (the day
before the beginning of the Plenary) to 10 June 2011 (the last day of the event); - per diem allowance.

By applying to this fellowship program you agree to:
- attend and participate in all events as outlined in the agenda;
- complete the meeting survey;
- provide a meeting/attendance report within 15 days after the last day of the meeting;
- provide a follow-up report to AfriNIC within two (2) months after the meeting on how you are contributing to the community as a result of your participation to the AfriNIC meeting and how the meeting has benefited you and your country and/or community;
- ensure that requirements for entry into Tanzania are met at least two weeks prior to your arrival. For example, obtaining a valid passport and visa, accommodation and air ticket should be finalised at least one month before your travel to the event.
