Statement:

Internet in Africa is called to know a very large expansion, in terms of access, use, and practice. The expected Internet growth in Africa will significantly impact :

• The social and economic changes in all African countries,
• The development of internet business based primarily on DNS and content industries.
• The need to deal with important issues such as security and internet resources management.

From this point of view, Afrinic is called to play a very important role, mainly to give guidance for the development of the Internet in Africa. For the success of the next phase of this intense expected development, the contribution of African skills is an advantage and Ridha Guellouz wishes to make use of his experience and bring his contribution to the Afrinic Board of Directors.

As shown in the attached biography, Ridha Guellouz has got, all along his career, the advantage of a wide span of areas of activity :

• Telecom Networks planning / Telecom and ICT Development
• Information Society / WSIS
• Internet governance.

• International cooperation in the field of ICT
• Has got a strong experience in Board or organisational leadership and has developed a good knowledge in business management through a significant participation to several boards of Directors in the ICT sector at national and international levels
• At national level : Tunisie Telecom, Irsit, OfficeNational de la Télédiffusion, Agence Nationale des Fréquences
• At international level : ITU Council, RASCOM council, Inmarsat Council, Arabsat, Council, NEPAD
• Has been involved in several strategic processes in the field of ICT, like the building of information society worldwide, including Internet issues.
