The policies used to distribute Internet number resources in the African and Indian Ocean region are proposed, discussed, accepted and/or rejected by the community using a consensus-based, bottom-up, open and inclusive process. All policies follow the same process whereby they are either approved, rejected or do not reach a consensus. In the latter case, they are sent back to the mailing list for further discussion.
Policies are discussed during the Policy Development Working Group sessions.
Anyone can propose a policy and participate in the discussions during the dedicated Policy Development sessions at AFRINIC and AIS Meetings as well as on the policy discussion (rpd) mailing list. You do not need to be an AFRINIC member to participate.
